Join us for a full day through some of south-eastern Skåne’s most evocative landscapes — where sea, history and storytelling meet.
We travel by minibus from Simrishamn along the open Österlen coast toward Ales stenar, one of Scandinavia’s most enigmatic ancient monuments. Along the way we stop at runic stones and move through a landscape where people have lived, raised their monuments, buried their dead and gazed out over the sea for thousands of years.
Archaeology, stories and the atmosphere of place weave together into a living journey through the Scanian cultural landscape — tracing the marks left by those who shaped this coast from prehistory to modern times, through burial grounds, ancient pathways, fishing villages and open heathland.
At Ales stenar there is time to walk up to the stone ship, take in the view over the sea and have lunch in Kåseberga harbour.
Lunch is taken in Kåseberga harbour or as a packed lunch. For a seamless lunch stop, a table at Kåseberga Café & Bistro can be booked in advance — please indicate this when booking. Lunch is paid on site. Freshly brewed coffee is available on the bus throughout the journey.
Your guides Ylva Sjöstrand — archaeologist and PhD, specialising in landscape, prehistory and archaeology. Polgara Källman — author and storyteller focusing on Skåne’s history, legends and sacred sites.
Together they open the landscape through both its visible history and the stories that still live on in these places.
